Last November I traveled to Birmingham, Alabama to photograph the special intimate wedding ceremony and celebration for Jessica and Mira. Alabama natives living in Portland inspired to create an intimate wedding celebration by a rising full moon on the autumnal equinox, just one month before their chosen day. It was important for them to have a wedding that would include their family and close loved ones.
They chose Dia De Los Muertos, November 2, as their wedding day. The decorations were created by hand in the month before the wedding date by Jessica and her sister. They walked into the ceremony space, hand in hand, smiling brightly. Their rings were passed around for each guest to impart their blessing upon them.Sparkling wine was sabered following the ceremony, beautiful toasts were given, and their love was certainly celebrated. It was such an honor to be there, to give witness to such a beautiful union.
